ICOA: vysvetleni prutahu u AInc.

diskuse, a tak nakonec Fleecy precejenom alespon ozrejmil ctyrmesicni
zpozdeni.

Sounds like it's time for a "Not me but a friend of mine overhead...."
story ;-)

What we heard in August were plans and a roadmap ready to go,
a CEO convinced and eager to back Jeff in his vision - there
followed two weeks later the single event that nixed that
roadmap, not the content but the timing - the departure of
Rick Snyder.

Rick was the big amigaphile, along with Steve Johns and
Keith Braddocks (who "found" Amiga for GW2K) and the ever
bubbling other guy whose name has escaped me for the moment
- Jim Taylor.

With him gone, GW2K freaked a bit, rearranging upper management in
a period that took 3 months. Instead of being directly connected
to an Amiga aware believing CEO, Jeff now has a new boss, just one of
the directors and he knows nothing about the Amiga and has required
a lot of in depth reports and studies on the viability of the Amiga
which AInc have been trying to provide.

This has frustrated AInc as much as it has frustrated us - the ICOA
should
have been at least four months further on than it is now if the promises
we had secured in August could have been realised at that time.

The roadmap however still exists, and is still valid, although being
revised due to the delay. Am I happy with what I know? The potential
is there (as it has always been). Everyday AInc receive new information
that makes them believe more in the Amiga. Their roadmap still
exists. They are talking to companies and individuals.

Unfortunately, the market continues to be depressed by them not
saying anything - November I was pissed at them for not saying something
but seeing that they are now caught up in the corporate web as most
departments are, I am glad that they didn't, for they would have
told everyone their plans then and the corporate politics and delays
would
have made them out to be liars.

So they chose to say nothing until they have something to say as against
saying something and being disappointed. A quick look at this list shows
me that at least 20 of the people on it have talked with AInc or been
contacted by ppl acting for Amiga Inc and are aware of
maybe some of what they are trying to do.

I do not want to be their apologist - it distresses me as much as it
distresses
any Amigan that nowt seems to be happening. The fact that I know why
doesn't
spare me from the same sort of head wracking as those who don't - just
for
different reasons.

The Amiga is in a wierd position - in the past the companies that have
bought
or wanted to buy it have already been convinced by the platform but have
lacked
the capital - now we have a company with wads of cash but who need
convincing.
That battle is being waged on many fronts.

When will something happen? I would say February, from what I know but
is could be
good or it could be bad - you see, knowing doesn't do me any favours
either. Should ppl
stick with the platform or not if the parent company can stand up for
it? - That
has to be an individual artistic, spiritual and economic decision. I
will support
it as long as I can and it reassures me that there are ppl at AInc who
everyday
understand the platform a bit better and want it to succeed - I just
hope
the market, developers and community can continue to survive - AInc are
starting to understand the urgency. I just hope they can convince those
above
them.
