ICOA - Spatne zpravy??? :-(((
Bohuzel zde musim vstrcit jeden rozhorceny e-mail od Fleecyho, protoze
ten se dozral a napsal primo Tedd Waittovi. Odpoved mel pry do hodiny,
oddeleny trh a je treba rychle s necim hnout, tady to mate. Minule utery
mel totiz Jeff Schindler navstivit osobne s plany Ted Waitta, ale
vysledek se zda byt opet nulovy, coz zrejme Fleecyho dozralo.

What has happened is what typically happens in the US - For GW2K, AInc
is just
one small fish that they have on their plate. As they get to the end of
the
year, all the fish in the pool start politicking for the up and coming
budget
approvals, particularly for the limited R&D pot of money.
GW2K has at least 15 Vice Presidents, all of whom are after as much as
they
can get. Jeff is not a VP - he is having to convince the VP who sits
above him
(Joe Burke) who a) is a marketing guy and b) is in charge of their
country
stores project which is seen as being a major project.
Jeff is doing what he can but this is corporate politics and, as we have
all
seen with MS, having a good idea and great technology rarely seems to be
heard
when the capital feeding frenzy starts.
.... and this is unnacceptable......
Which is why last tuesday the TSC decided to kick some suit ass!!!!
A "friend" inside AInc gave us Ted Waitt's private email address. An
email was
composed and sent...within 4 hours Ted replied. We are not allowed to
reveal its
contents BUT its tone and what was said make it obvious that it is on
his personal
plate and as soon as he gets time, he will look at it. We stressed the
importance
of time, the fragile state of the market and the fact that the Amiga is
not a customer
base but a community. He is intrigued by the ICOA and what it can do and
we talked
quite a bit about new business models. I know this doesn't put new
product out there
BUT it has raised its profile in his eyes and in corporate politics,
that is how things
get done.
The TSC met a lot of the VPs up in GW2K when we were up there. A lot of
them are smart
ppl brought in for high wages to pretty uninspiring but necessary jobs.
We formed a
great rapport with them. The day after the Ted Waitt email, we faxed as
many of them
as we could with a status and alert letter. We received 3 replies within
an hour,
and this was around thanksgiving so more are expected. There will be
phone calls on
Monday to follow these up. We have sent a few photon torpedos into the
high decks of
the starship Moo-terprise and the talk in the executive bathrooms this
week should
be interesting.
We also intend to follow in there with tales from the community, of the
hardship being
suffered by those who have stood by the Amiga in the commercial arena.
In particular, the
newsletter from Bob Luneski of Oregon Research that almost had me in
tears (and if anyone
can, please contact him to see if there is anything ppl can do to help
him - we have to
stand together in this time of crap or we will all go down!!!)
As far as GW2K are concerned, at the moment, we are a product division,
a small cog
in their vast machine. We are going to make them change that impression
pretty dammed
quick. In the past we tried to support AInc and Jeff - that was not
enough. Now we
intend to do what we should have done all along - support the Amiga. If
we are going
down then we are going to make enough bloody noise to have them spread
across the
global news net. If they want to save us, and we save them then the time
has come
to act.
..stay tuned.....
