Konec valky PPC kernelu (fwd)

An announcement (mostly concerning the agreement between Haage&Partner and 
Phase 5 concerning the common PPC Kernel) will be out Wednesday Evening. The 
PPC Kernel War is over now. The two ruled out their differences (Well, in fact

the agreement is still negociated, but it is already sure, that there will be 
an agreement, and also how basically it will look... i cannot tell more about 
this though... in fact i don't know exactly... but it will be an agreement 
acceptable for everyone, asides maybe for people who are interested in this 
"Kernel War" just to produce themselves in the newsgroups... :) )

About these Intel Rumours, something more detailed:

- AI have a "superchip" in the making, that means not themselves, but Gateway
  is currently negociating for the "superchip" (it is done by a small firm,
  few people know about it... the whole story reminds a bit about the
  original AMIGA team...). Specs below.
- The chip won't be available before 1/99.
- Developpement has to start earlier, because of this Simulation Software
  has to be used
- Simulation Software is available for Intel already
- OS 4.0 is intended as a release ONLY FOR DEVELOPPERS which will use this
  simulation, final OS5.0 (end of '99) won't use Intel !!!
- Mr. Dietrich, Mr.Haage and also
  the bosses of Index and ACT had a VERY bad time at the show, mainly talking
  to AI guys and convincing them and all that, and explaining them HOW BAD
  marketing they did... the way they told their announcement... Intel + Amiga
  users won't work together.

Results:

- H&P and P5 will probably announce a common PPC standard still this week.
  News should be available at the H&P WWW Site Wednesday Evening
- H&P and P5 will - as it looks - get the job to do a "PowerPC Path to 4.0"
  which mainly means translating this simulation software to PPC
- More information hopefully soon.

It has to be said, that the whole affair was VERY bad marketing by AI, but the

situation is in the meanwhile solved, mainly thanks to Mr.Haage from H&P and
 Mr.Dietrich from Phase 5. Also appearently Mr.Tytschenko, Mr.Albrecht from 
ACT and the boss of Index (forgot the name) played an important role.

Watch the WWW Sites of H&P and P5 closely on Wednesday Evening... and the 
following days/weeks...

Some specs of the "superchip":

- 5x Faster than PII
- Can do 400 Million Pixels / Second in 3D
- Software-Adaptable to future Multimedia-Standards (MPEG 4...)
- Can replay two MPEG 2 Video Streams at the same time, texturemapped onto
  3D Objects, at the same time
